East pier

I’ve spent the last couple of days playing with a completely different approach. I have to admit it has been immensely enjoyable. There is a great freedom in stripping a scene down to its key ingredients and working in blocks of colour. But is it a good picture? I don’t know , I would greatly value your opinion so please feel free to leave a comment.

Chris, I stumbled upon your website and blog while looking for inspiration from other artists. I've bookmarked your blog so I'll read your updates from now on.
I noticed the lack of comments about your painting so I decided to have my say.
Personally, I think this sort of painting is fresh and 'clean' and would appeal to many people. Although you describe the painting as being stripped down to key ingredients, it's still full of interesting detail. Is it a good painting? I think so. It might be worth continuing with the occasional painting of this nature from time to time.
Cheers,
Mark.
